The Healing Hype

Come for the healing, stay for the justice. Because healing yourself is resistant af.

Capitalism is cold and hard.

The Healing Hype is warm and soft.

(I prefer the latter.)

I created The Healing Hype because I wanted to generate ideas to be foster liberation while healing my wounds. I knew it wasn’t selfish to heal, but I also knew that healing is a collective practice.

So in this spirit, The Healing Hype explores these questions…

  • How do I heal while living in capitalism?

  • Am I selfish if I want to care for myself while others are hurting?

  • How do I support others who are marginalized and oppressed, while prioritizing my own self-care?

  • How can I trust my intuition and stop doubting myself?

  • How can I explore intergenerational trauma and heal my inner child?

  • How do I break free of my scarcity mindset?

You want to heal and step in to your purpose and help those who face systemic oppression. Let’s face it, calling upon “the law of attraction” as an end-all be-all, or those other typical “love and light” methods are harmful, oversimplified, and overpriced.

This is why I created The Healing Hype, a space for ideas, support, and solidarity. It’s a spot where you can explore how you can slow down, care for others, and heal together.

I used to think that I only deserved to heal if I “worked hard”

I’m a brown woman who learned to be deferential to others, who was taught that nothing I did was ever enough and that I didn’t know how to “listen.”

I struggled with my own intergenerational trauma, gaslit and constantly critiqued as a child. This made me anxious about any decision I made and made me feel like I could never do or be enough.

I had no idea how capitalism and colonization affected society or my family.

I fought through a physically and emotionally abusive marriage.

I’ve experienced sexual trauma, physical trauma, and emotional trauma. It totally f*cked me up.

In one year, my father died and I realized my marriage had to end. I lost the two most important masculine figures in my life. I realized that it was time to embark on my own healing journey.

It was time to heal.

I immersed myself in writing, documenting my experiences around growing up and my divorce. I examined how the world conditioned me and told me who I should be. I slowly began waking up by learning and unlearning stories about (1) my body, (2) my wounds, (3) my lineage, and (4) the systems that have shaped my life AND the world.

Commitment and practice with trauma-informed healing techniques while helping others has transformed me into who I am today:

I am a Feminist Healing Coach who has facilitated groups with people of all ages and abilities.

I’m a writer with publications in The Times of India, Entropy Magazine, The Rumpus, and more.

I’m a speech therapist who has worked thousands of clinical hours.

I’m a podcast host of MigrAsians, a show about Asian stories of migration and how they lead to healing and transformation.

Most importantly, I’m Your Healing Hype Girl!

My gift is connecting with you through my stories and helping you remember who you are.

So, what exactly is The Healing Hype?

How is healing “hype”? And what exactly is the “hype”?

“Hype” is the way a trusted friend makes you laugh your ass off, the way someone or something can lift you out of a shitty funk, and the way you feel supported after being raw and vulnerable.

The Healing Hype is reflective, thoughtful, and full of warmth.

It is a newsletter and support space where I explore healing and justice, through writing, meditation, healing circles, workshops, group coaching, and inspiration.

Some topics we will dive into:

  • Anti-capitalism

  • Liberatory practices

  • Anxiety

  • Consent

  • Breathwork

  • CPTSD

  • Intergenerational Trauma

  • Pleasure and Play

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Trauma-sensitive Mindfulness

  • …and more!

My work embodies these key values: compassion, authenticity, vulnerability, community, curiosity, liberation, care, and unlearning.

Community Testimonials

I love the sense of grace and support I get from Nisha’s content. I also appreciate that when I post something, Nisha responds! I feel so seen! I love that posts are available as text and as audio, so it feels like I’m listening to a podcast. Or if I don’t feel like listening, I can read! The meditations are so wonderful and help me feel connected as well.

I love the Healing Hype community because it’s helped me understand what it means to give myself space, grace, and compassion at a point in my life where I constantly feel the impulse to abandon myself. Something I really appreciate about Healing Hype posts/discussions is the emphasis Nisha places on really *being* with our feelings and our bodies, two things that I (read: we) have been trained to escape, dismiss, and talk down upon...

With the help of the Healing Hype, I am beginning to recognize these two things as powerful tools of guidance, that when tapped into and fully appreciated, also help us think more critically of the broader structural sources of our deepest wounds. Thanks to this community, I am no longer intellectualizing my pain and getting lost in my analysis, but feeling my way through my ups and downs for the better. <3

I value how Nisha’s Journal Hangs and Healing Circles hold space for both connection with self and with others. I come away from these events feeling heard and seen and with insights to think through and bring to my day-to-day life.

I’ve learned so much from the information you have shared about trauma! Also, Nisha’s meditations are fire ;) I love that a part of my support of this community goes toward BIPOC healing.

The Mapping Your Nervous System Workshop was so great. I am already doing some of this work in therapy so I feel that this work is a perfect complement to that. I loved doing the object/movements/song exercise as well as the mapping. I learned a lot and I felt like I wanted to keep filling the boxes with more and more as I kept digging inside. Nisha did a fantastic job with explaining each segment and by using her own examples as guidance. I love learning about the connections between feelings and the body and how to begin understanding what my bodily reactions actually mean or indicate.

Q: Are healing circles and workshops recorded?

A: Seasonal Healing Circles and workshops will be recorded for you to view for up to two weeks. However, BIPOC Healing Circles will not be recorded in order to keep it a safe space. monthly Community Coaching Calls will not be recorded either.
